Session 5: The Library as Connector: Facilitating Learning, Participation, and Digital Confidence

Session Overview

This final seminar in the NIAGARA Online Seminar Series focuses on the evolving role of the library as a connector—a space where people come together to learn, collaborate, and build confidence in navigating digital environments. The session introduces the concept of Urban Knowledge Hubs, which frames the library as a shared learning community grounded in participation, dialogue, and inclusion.

Drawing on work from the BALTIC Urban Knowledge Hubs project, the seminar also presents the 4C Toolbox, a practical framework for co-creating library services and learning opportunities with users and communities. The session will explore how these approaches support NIAGARA’s goals of strengthening digital competence and fostering meaningful, equitable participation in academic and civic life.
